- Dangerous goods. Spirits above 24% ABV ship as UN3065, Class 3; proof affects carrier choice and rates.
- Leaving the US. Exported from bond, with no federal excise tax, under TTB export procedures.
- Arriving in the EU. Into a bonded excise warehouse under an e-AD; excise and VAT apply on release.
- Age. The EU requires at least three years in wood to sell a spirit as whisky.
- Pallets. Barrels are exempt from ISPM-15; the pallets under them must carry the stamp.
- Tariffs change. Confirm the current rate with your customs broker before committing to a landed price.
